Fun Things To Do This Fall

This time of year is an all-time favorite! The gradual transitioning of the weather with leaves falling, lots of pumpkins, gourds, and squash. The weather in Dallas has been pleasant the last week with mornings a little crisp and the afternoons warming up to bearable temperatures. There’s always so much I look forward to at this time of the year and I wanted to put together a few fun things you can do in the city this Fall and some cool home options too! These are things my family and I have already done or we plan on doing over the next month, and you may enjoy adding to your list as well.

    1. Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin patches are the cutest! It really is one of those first things you notice as a sign that Fall has arrived. There are many local pumpkin patch places this time of year you can take your family to. It is an exciting experience for your kiddos when they see the variety of pumpkins on display with their different shapes, sizes, and color. I love it when we pick one or two or maybe a couple to decorate for the front porch or to carve a pumpkin! Autumn at the Arboretum is so beautiful this time of year. It’s a great place to take pictures and one of the best Fall festivals. For something a little away from the city, there’s the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm at Preston Trail Farms which is open this time of year through November 26, and has lots of pumpkins, a petting farm and rides. Definitely one we will be going to again this year.

    2. Fall Events

There’s quite a number of events that are organized this time of year. A great way to step out on a date or again with the family. There’s a few I will list here:

OCTOBER 28 – HALLOWEEN SPIRIT WALK (ADULT event) at the Grandscape in the Colony, TX. You will be able to walk through the Lifestyle Center and participate in drink sampling at various locations during this event. This is a paid event ($25) and will include a drink passport. There are also FREE music events on October 29 that is open to the public.

OCTOBER 31 – TRICK OR TREAT on Main Street in Frisco, TX. Your kiddos can help themselves to all the sweets they can handle and businesses on Main Street are encouraged to hand candy outside versus inside. I believe face coverings are recommended for anyone 2 and older to wear.  The city of Frisco have a few more events planned for the months of November through December but that is for a later post.

OCTOBER 31 – NEIGHBORHOOD GOODS GOAT YOGA at the Shops at Legacy West in Plano, TX. Yup, if you’re anything like me, you will want to go to this outdoorsy event which sounds like a whole lot of fun!!! Oh, and because it is so close to the end of the month, there will be a costume theme for Halloween.

EXTENDED THROUGH JANUARY – JURASSIC WORLD EXHIBITION at the Grandscape in the Colony, TX. Okay, if you haven’t been to this exhibition, then you simply have to. This is a totally immersive experience that transports you to the park to learn more about the prehistoric creatures that once ruled the land. It is great for both adults and kids, and the dinosaurs move. My kids absolutely loved the experience.

    3. Try New Restaurants, Juice or Coffee Shops

Y’all. there are so many new restaurants that have sprung up with good food and drinks. One of my favorite juice bars that is 100% certified organic is Clean Juice. They are located all over the DFW metroplex and in other parts of the United States. I cannot recommend this place enough and they have a seasonal pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin smoothie that is absolute heaven! You can also try a local coffee shop like Amor Coffee Shop in Allen, TX which is owned by a fellow blogger and HGTV demo renovation designer, Jenn Todyrk. I also recommend visiting the Grandscape in the Colony, TX and the Gates at Prosper for some pretty cool restaurants.

If you’re more of a homebody, then you can simply try your hands at making a new Fall drink from the comforts of your kitchen or attempt making a cup of green tea matcha with oat milk and agave. There are so many great recipes that have pumpkin for this time of year. I am a bit obsessed with homemade cinnamon rolls and will share a vegan option on the blog next.

    4. S’MORES AND OUTDOORS

S’mores outdoors in your backyard are the best! If you’re vegan, there is a brand called Dandies that makes marshmallows and Trader Joe’s have some good options too. There’s always something relaxing about sitting outdoors watching the flickering of the fire as you make a s’more and enjoy it with family and friends. My suggestion is to experiment with the chocolate on your s’more. Next time you make a s’more, instead of using your traditional milk chocolate, try it with dark chocolate or peanut butter cups, or maybe a combo of both. You’ll be surprised.

    5. Home Activities

Finally, there are LOTS of cool things to do at home. Remember those pumpkins I mentioned earlier? Well, you can certainly carve a pumpkin. We plan on doing some pumpkin carvings this weekend. If you don’t want to get your house messy, then puzzles are another nice way to settle in during Fall evenings with a warm cup of hot chocolate. Its a great family activity and a simple way to enjoy a quiet evening after your kids are all tucked away for the evening. You can find puzzles at stores like Barnes & Noble, Target, and Hobby Lobby. Movie nights are by far my FAVORITE activity to do at home during Fall! I love to turn on the fireplace, cuddle and catch-up on favorite shows or movies. I’m currently watching Succession and that has been entertaining.

Hope you’re able to do something fun this Fall, either in the City or at home. xo Louise

How to Transition Your Wardrobe for Fall

    Fall Syle & Transition

There’s always that time of the year when we’re excited about the change in seasons. The lightly chilled crisp mornings and the ever changing colors of the trees from hues of yellows to oranges and reds. I always get excited at the beginning of Autumn weather and can you blame me? If you lived in Texas, you would totally relate and know the feeling after going through one of our extreme hot Texas Summers!

So after all that said, dressing for that transition between seasons can become a bit of a tricky game. On one hand, I’ve been caught by erratic weather and on the other hand, we will get some days where it’s warmer and feels almost like Summer.

    Colors & Boots

Layering gets more fun, and tones and textures begin to change. You can get creative with Autumn hues via your accessories, makeup, or outfits as you begin the transition of your wardrobe. I am currently loving long sleeves to stay comfortable since it’s not yet as cold in Dallas, and muted pink tones because Autumn doesn’t always have to be all about wearing deep berry shades and earth tones.

Subtle additions like boots will be your best friend. You will not only keep your feet warmer but it is such a nice Fall look and can be paired with a dress, jeans, or skirt. To be perfectly honest with you, I found this style of midi dress that has long sleeves and is light so I am comfortable in our current Autumn temperature. I definitely think I’d get the wear out of it especially as its so flattering and I can always pull it out of my wardrobe all through the seasons minus Winter when it gets a lot colder.

I am curious to know how you transition your wardrobe from Summer to Autumn. Is it a gradual transition as you ease into the cooler months?

The Perfect Pumpkin Colored Dress for Fall

Hi loves! I gradually started shopping for a few Fall outfits and fell in love with this combination dress and cardigan. I think it is the perfect dress this Thanksgiving or for the office, and for any occasion. This dress gives me all the warm and vibrant feelings! It reminds me of golden caramel, pumpkins, and yes, Fall!!! I guess I am gravitating towards the warmer earth tones this season. The look can be dressed up or down, and you can always add a light jacket or cardigan if it is a little chilly, or even pair the dress with heels or boots! I kept jewelry to a minimum because sometimes a dress says it all. Who else is having a vintage moment? xoxo Louise

2 Free People Dresses I Will Be Wearing into Fall

When you live in Dallas, Fall still feels like Summer and you can only drool and dream of slightly cooler temperatures to take away from the blistering heat. At least that’s how I feel although I absolutely love the warm weather! So without further ado, I am rounding up two Free People dresses I plan to be wearing way into Fall and layering with a jacket or two when it gets a tad (teeny weeny) bit cold.

DRESS #1: Crochet Maxi Dress :: Suede Pointy-Toe Shoes (under $100): Earrings by LB_Beads

DRESS #2: Floral Print Maxi Dress :: Rattan Bag (extra 25% off) :: MalloryKeePhotography

    Fall Neutrals

Obsessed with this cardigan! Love the subtle neutral striped colors which is easy to mix and match with any look. Also these Calvin Klein mules are surprisingly comfortable and under $100. I have worn them on repeat since I got them at Nordstrom last year. You can still find these at Overstock.com

    Latest Obsession

Sweater weather and layering is in full force and I have been getting in the spirit. It is so hard to resist with all the amazing deals (and so has my shopping bag haha). I’ve also been finding a few reasonably priced items and wanted to share some of my recent buys. This cardigan is one I saw and as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was going to find a home in my closet! I love the colorblock shades and ballon sleeves that makes it so pretty. Just the perfect way to  bring a little fun to any wardrobe and still stick to a Fall theme look. These come in two colors at Nordstrom Rack.

Obviously my mules are on repeat and I love the gold detailing on the back of the heel. Surprisingly my clutch purse was one of those lucky finds at Target. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find these online so it may warrant a trip to a Target store if you like them as much I do. I have linked a different color for you. They are just so cute that I have plans to wear these with my Uggs when it gets a tad bit colder in Dallas..haha. These jeans are a great fit and also under $100! I have a tiny waist and wider hips so it is always such a challenge finding jeans that fit but these are absolutely perfect and a big selling point for me. Some of these items are currently on sale so you can get great deals.

I’ve linked a few of my favorites below as well.

    Casual Pieces for Fall

    Casual Pieces

Is there anything more convenient than transforming your Summer look into an Autumn look? Well, that is if you live in Dallas where our Autumn weather tends to fluctuate between warm days and some cooler nights. Every season I try to look at my wardrobe and see what I can wear into the next season and what I can’t.  I especially love this look because anything lacy equals femininity and can easily be layered with a light coat or jacket, or even scarf for a more Fall-ish look.

The best part about finding casual pieces is versatility. If you know me, you will notice that I have had these wedges and jeans on repeat. These wedges are on sale and if you don’t own a pair of wedges, then now is the time to invest in one. For our Dallas temperature, I can pull off this look on most days. The lacy top is light and just gorgeous.  There is also something about the neutral cream color that goes well with almost any look. For a quick pop of color and to embrace the holiday season quickly approaching, I wore this Michele watch and invested in this extremely reasonable bag from Target and have linked a similar one here. You will be amazed on the finds at Target and I must confess that it is quick becoming one of my favorite stops.

Do you ever re-wear some of your Summer outfits into Fall?

The Skirt I Will be Wearing Well into Fall

We all have that one favorite dress or shoe or shirt or skirt that we cannot seem to get enough of.  Well this is a story of a girl who bought a skirt, fell in love with it, and promised to keep it in her wardrobe a couple more seasons! You see, I am a big fan of anything long, flowy and comfortable so you can imagine when I happened to come across this skirt and I simply had to get it. There is just something ultra feminine about this skirt that I love, maybe because it is light and airy?

    The Skirt

Wishful thinking: The imagining of a situation you wished were possible.

This is exactly how I felt when I looked at this skirt at the store. Only difference is I imagined wearing it and I actually purchased it.  This is a wrap skirt and so easy to adjust waist as needed, which I love. It is also breezy and flowy and this look will be gorgeous with a pretty plaid shirt or boots for Fall.

For this look, I went with bright colors and opted for a sunflower colored yellow top and red purse. I went with these Marc Fisher Ltd. “Zala” pumps from Nordstrom and they are so comfortable! I have linked a similar top below.

I can’t tell you enough how many times I have worn this skirt this summer.  I even took it on vacation and it was the perfect outfit for one of the evenings on the cruise ship. The color also matches with just about everything.

Below I have also rounded up a few pictures wearing this skirt with another top, pink shoes, and Guess purse to share how versatile and lovely this skirt really is.

    Would you wear this skirt?
