Last Chance on a Few Sale Favorites

Y’all, we are down to the last week of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and while there may be a lot of styles out of stock, there are still a few favorites that have been restocked. I am sharing two dresses I absolutely love that can be beautiful outfits for any event and I picked up at Nordstrom.

If you see me wearing a few more pieces from Nordstrom later on the blog, just know that I am still planning on doing a little more shopping before the sale ends.

The first dress is one I absolutely LOOOOOOVE and wore to a wedding a couple weeks back.  I am most likely going to be taking it with me when we go to Costa Rica in another few weeks. It is the perfect cocktail / any event dress and the lace pattern adds an extra touch of femininity to the look. It comes in seven colors (even in navy ink…lol)!

Dress: Astr the Label (originally $89, now $58.99) ; Shoes: Clear Strappy Sandals (under $100) ;  Bag: Chain Stone Covered Clutch  ($75)

This next dress is a Rachel Parcell dress which is so light with an inner lining. I love all her dresses because it is well made and the pastel colors are so complementary on anyone. The puffed sleeves are gorgeous and the tie can be wrapped around the waist twice for a different look. I almost felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz wearing this dress (minus the bright red shoes, of course ;))!  This look can easily double as a picnic dress, office wear and even a fun day out! I really wished I had waited a tad longer to get it on sale but y’all can still get this dress which is currently in stock and marked 40% off.

I have also linked below a few more of my favorites from the Nordstrom Sale that are still in stock and I will be shopping for in a little bit!

Dress: Rachel Parcell Gingham Puff Sleeve dress (originally $155, now 40% off at $92.90) ; Shoes: Antonio Melani Leather Wedge Sandals ($66) ; Bag: Talia Round Rattan Crossbody ($88)

    Fall Neutrals

Obsessed with this cardigan! Love the subtle neutral striped colors which is easy to mix and match with any look. Also these Calvin Klein mules are surprisingly comfortable and under $100. I have worn them on repeat since I got them at Nordstrom last year. You can still find these at Overstock.com

    Latest Obsession

Sweater weather and layering is in full force and I have been getting in the spirit. It is so hard to resist with all the amazing deals (and so has my shopping bag haha). I’ve also been finding a few reasonably priced items and wanted to share some of my recent buys. This cardigan is one I saw and as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was going to find a home in my closet! I love the colorblock shades and ballon sleeves that makes it so pretty. Just the perfect way to  bring a little fun to any wardrobe and still stick to a Fall theme look. These come in two colors at Nordstrom Rack.

Obviously my mules are on repeat and I love the gold detailing on the back of the heel. Surprisingly my clutch purse was one of those lucky finds at Target. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find these online so it may warrant a trip to a Target store if you like them as much I do. I have linked a different color for you. They are just so cute that I have plans to wear these with my Uggs when it gets a tad bit colder in Dallas..haha. These jeans are a great fit and also under $100! I have a tiny waist and wider hips so it is always such a challenge finding jeans that fit but these are absolutely perfect and a big selling point for me. Some of these items are currently on sale so you can get great deals.

I’ve linked a few of my favorites below as well.

    A Summer Farewell

    A Farewell to Summer

It is almost beginning, the slight chill in the air, the fallen leaves, the gentle calling of Autumn as Summer fades away. She whispers as she ever so slightly brings cooler breezes and shorter days. Autumn lures us with her sweet promises of golden and bright red leaves, of tall trees set ablaze by a golden haze.

Alas! Summer shall sleep to wake again and bring us her warmth and longer days but right now the season calls for Summer to sleep. A sure miss of memories remembered and memories past. This is where we say farewell.

Soon, Autumn shall bring Winter cold but for now we shall bask in the ever slight chill of Autumn’s embrace and her beauty of warm colored leaves so rich in hue. We shall enjoy the crackling fireplaces and the ever hot cups of cocoa. The stories, the laughter, the cuddles, and the snuggles, until we meet Summer again. Until she awakens with her warm embrace.

    Farewell Summer until next year.

    xx Louise

Summer Outfits You Can Wear for a Night Out

    Summer

There is something about the Summer months and how good the sun feels on your skin that makes you think of spending most of the day at the pool or beach, and also throwing caution to the wind when it comes to how your hair or makeup looks, or what it’s like attending events. It’s some sort of freedom I would say, because all you can think about is how good it is to just enjoy time away from busy schedules.

For me, I’ve always been someone who find ways of working the key trends for the season into my existing wardrobe. While I try to stay ahead of the trends, I also keep in mind the appropriate dress for the weather too.  Now you may probably be thinking if this outfit is practical, but aside from it being simply a favorite of mine, it is the perfect Summer outfit for a night out or to an outfit to wear to a summer wedding.  The skirt is light and free flowing and the sheer mesh floral blouse allows your skin to breathe in warmer temperatures.

A sheer blouse has the power to totally transform an outfit. For casual outings, I pair with jeans, or to dress it up with a pair of trousers or skirt, as I have done here. It works exceptionally well with this maxi tulle skirt.

There’s often talk about how you “should” dress for certain occasions; nights out, events and functions, work meetings, the list goes on. I find that curating my Summer wardrobe this season has been much easier and I’ve felt like I’ve found a good rhythm. I usually tend to dance to the beat of my own drum but balance is everything.

    About The Look

There are many other ways to inject some key pieces into your wardrobe. This pink tulle skirt caught my eye because of the playfulness of it, reminds me of something a Disney Princess would wear. I thought the mesh floral blouse is the perfect summer outfit, one that is wearable and will be great for various different occasions. The bell sleeves are simply gorgeous and not too obvious.

For my feet, I opted for nude sandals to keep the look elegant. My earrings are from the baublebar and I totally love the design because it matches perfectly with my floral blouse. It is also transparent and enhances the blouse even further. My makeup was kept to a minimum. I usually think less is more and in the summer heat, the last thing you want is too much makeup on your face. You can still look beautiful with the bare minimum.

As you can see, the skirt was the central piece that tied the entire look together. I wore this to a dinner function paired with the velvet clutch. Sometimes a low maintenance look can be eye catching. What are your favourite ways to wear long flowing skirts this summer?

    Summer Diaries: Ruffles & Pastels

Summer dress series continues! This week it’s all about ruffles, pastel colors, bows and tie. Today’s outfit features a dress I wore to the launch of the KBS America Dallas/Ft. Worth channel affiliate. KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) is one of the biggest South Korean television networks with affiliates all over the world. It was such a great experience and I’m happy for my dear friend who is president of the KBS America Dallas/Ft. Worth affiliate.

I also had fun exploring the historic downtown Carrollton area before the event. Talk about cute shops, restaurants, interesting wall murals, and railroad tracks!

Ruffles, bows, and ties create a feminine touch to any summer look. It is a great way to stay confident, chic, and elegant. The flirty elements creates interest in the simplest of dresses and sometimes it’s so easy to get caught up in wearing effortless-chic. I dressed this outfit up with these gorgeous shoes from nordstrom rack which comes in four colors.

I have also linked a few of my favorites ruffle dresses below that highlight different patterns from florals to stripes to polka dots.

    White Dresses for Summer

There’s nothing better than an ideal white dress for summer. Every time I wear this dress – and by now I’ve worn it a couple times – I get questions and compliments. This dress is casual and looks great with sandals, flip flops, or wearing heels.

I’m obsessed! I paired this crisp white dress with comfortable floral slingback sandals.

So what makes a staple dress in my books?

    • Comfort: Investing in a piece of clothing that you feel your best self in. Comfort adds to confidence and confidence alludes to style.
    • Style: Classic, on-trend, and effortless.
    • Timelessness: Ask yourself if you are likely to wear this dress this time next season.
Dress: VanityRoom  Purse: Coach Shoes: Nine West
