Last Chance on a Few Sale Favorites

Y’all, we are down to the last week of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and while there may be a lot of styles out of stock, there are still a few favorites that have been restocked. I am sharing two dresses I absolutely love that can be beautiful outfits for any event and I picked up at Nordstrom.

If you see me wearing a few more pieces from Nordstrom later on the blog, just know that I am still planning on doing a little more shopping before the sale ends.

The first dress is one I absolutely LOOOOOOVE and wore to a wedding a couple weeks back.  I am most likely going to be taking it with me when we go to Costa Rica in another few weeks. It is the perfect cocktail / any event dress and the lace pattern adds an extra touch of femininity to the look. It comes in seven colors (even in navy ink…lol)!

Dress: Astr the Label (originally $89, now $58.99) ; Shoes: Clear Strappy Sandals (under $100) ;  Bag: Chain Stone Covered Clutch  ($75)

This next dress is a Rachel Parcell dress which is so light with an inner lining. I love all her dresses because it is well made and the pastel colors are so complementary on anyone. The puffed sleeves are gorgeous and the tie can be wrapped around the waist twice for a different look. I almost felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz wearing this dress (minus the bright red shoes, of course ;))!  This look can easily double as a picnic dress, office wear and even a fun day out! I really wished I had waited a tad longer to get it on sale but y’all can still get this dress which is currently in stock and marked 40% off.

I have also linked below a few more of my favorites from the Nordstrom Sale that are still in stock and I will be shopping for in a little bit!

Dress: Rachel Parcell Gingham Puff Sleeve dress (originally $155, now 40% off at $92.90) ; Shoes: Antonio Melani Leather Wedge Sandals ($66) ; Bag: Talia Round Rattan Crossbody ($88)

Work Wear Mondays: It’s All About Neutrals

Details: Cremieux Plaid Shirt Dress (on sale under $40) –  Kitten Heel Mules (under $55) – Similar Purse (under $100)

The Plaid & Neutral Look Recipe

I can’t believe it’s the beginning of another new week and here I am embracing this neutral look with a Cremieux plaid tie shirt dress! Yup, a mix of plaid and neutrals…who would have thought?  This one is on sale right now for under $40 (from an original price of $150), and you could wear it all season into Fall.

The material on the Cremieux dress is really comfortable and I love the button front tie waist. In my book, it doubles as classic and the effortless office look. I’ve had my eye on this one too and it might be the next dress I add to my collection since it is also currently on sale.  I do love the quality and fit of this brand. As with any look, I paired up the dress with these gorgeous Gianni Bini mules and a neutral purse which is usually my go-to. Loving the palette which is so perfect for office wear this season. The sleeves are just about right to keep me warm from the blast of cold a/c in the buildings and the material is light enough to keep me cool when I’m outside conquering the Dallas summer heat.

Below are some more plaid and neutral dresses for your office or business look.

Work Wear Mondays: My H&M Look

H&M Fitted Jacket; H&M Wrapover Skirt; Charles David Shoes from Nordstrom; Louis Vuitton Neverfull Bag

    H&M Office Look

Another Monday, another work week! Today, I am sharing an office look that is affordable and yet stylish. This attire from H&M is versatile and I love the fit.  Thank goodness I didn’t need to get the jacket tailored!!!  You can wear this fitted jacket with a slim fitted skirt or pants, or with jeans for a more casual look. The skirt can be dressed up as well.

A classic yet affordable look for the office is a win-win for me. I also noticed the jacket comes in a few colors along with the skirt. If you haven’t been to H&M lately, you should.  They have a range of clothing from loungewear to office wear, and I love their variety.

    Now who doesn’t like a jacket that’s under $25??

Work Wear Mondays: The Pretty Lace Blue Dress

    Mondays

The beginning of a new week….also the day of the week before Tuesday and following Sunday. A time when you either dread the start of the week or relish at the thought of a new week with a fresh opportunity to achieve your goals.

What can I say? Mondays can be somewhat of a love-hate relationship. Sometimes I am so psyched about the start of the week and other times when I know how full my week is going to be, I start looking forward to Fridays!!! Yup, that’s a true confession because I am certain we all experience this rollercoaster of emotions! So back to Mondays and in my case, a new work week.  Since I tend to be a planner I usually like to plan my outfits for the week, however I occasionally go with impulse wear based on my mood that morning. If I have a lot of meetings, I trend towards a neutral palette but there are days when I need a little “pick me up”, and will settle for outfits that are more pastel toned because they are such happy colors.

For this look, I am sharing a Francescas blue lace sheath dress that is so gorgeous and feminine! I absolutely love how the dress seems to fit in the right places and even though I paid full price for it, the dress is currently on sale under $50. You can wear this look with a kimono or jacket for the office or on it’s own for a cocktail or wedding. I love it without a jacket but sharing the different looks so you can see the versatility of the dress.

What is your favorite office look? Do you like neutral or pastel colors, and do you tend to lean towards dresses, skirts, or pants?

Work Wear Mondays: My Love for Gianni Bini

    New Blog Series

Happy Monday guys! I’m hopeful you all had a lovely Easter weekend. So, I’m super excited to launch a weekly “work wear Monday” series.  Well, mostly because I am a working woman and mother, and sometimes in the business world, it is a challenge to find the right outfit that exudes confidence and is still classy. Fast forward to today, and I’m quickly getting the reputation of being the fashionable one while knowledgeable in my profession at the office.

Every Monday, I will share a post linking one or a few of my outfits and affordable items.  Let me know in the comments below if you’d like to see more of this or what other things you’d like me to share.

    Gianni Bini

With all that said (phew)….let me start with one of my work dresses by Gianni Bini.  This dress has simple lines and a beautiful cut.  It is right below the knee, so midi-length which is usually where I like my dresses to fall when it comes to work wear, with a few exceptions.  I just love this designer because the lines are so clean and it almost always fits well so I don’t have to worry about having it tailored.  In fact, most European brands are very similar in cut and I love outfits that compliment your body.

For work or office wear, I tend to gravitate toward softer colors. This particular brand is carried at Dillards but I realized it is sold out on their website so I was able to find the exact same dress on Lyst and have linked it here.  I love the ruched keyhole neckline and the flare lower half of the dress. The quality of the material is surprisingly sturdy with beautiful stitching, and I know it wouldn’t be fading or wearing out anytime soon.

Do you usually wear pant suit, skirt, or dress to the office?

    H&M Finds

    It’s My Anniversary!

Guys, today is my anniversary with my darling husband! I can’t believe how time flies and yet it moves ever so slowly, or maybe it just moves by rather quickly altogether when we are happy.  Either way, I am so grateful that time has this way of showing us what really matters. Today, I get to spend another day with my husband and so thankful for the joy he’s brought into my life and for my kids.

Okay, moving on from that sentimental post 🙂 ….I am sure what you really want to hear about is my H&M finds and not this display of affection for my hubby but I couldn’t resist writing just a little personal something, see? So back to my current finds. I recently went window shopping and got sucked into H&M after seeing all the cool office wear in the window display. About an hour later, I was walking out with a bag full of pleated skirts and jackets, which brings me to this current post.

    H&M

I always find the collections at H&M to be reasonably priced.  A jacket is usually under $35 and that works when you’re on a budget or when you don’t want to spend over $200 on a jacket. The quality is also great and the fit is what I really love about their clothes.

So let’s talk outfit; I think neutral works most of the time. They say, when in doubt, stick to a more neutral palette. For this look, I added a little pop of color to the outfit.  The pleated skirt makes it super flirty and fun. The material is soft and almost satin-like.  My jacket is sturdy and the fit is perfect. One of the things I like about it is the three-quarter sleeve that is scrunched and the way it sits loosely on me.  I started thinking this will be awesome for work but also with jeans! Yes, I am always shopping for outfits that can be mix/match with other items in my wardrobe.  Can you imagine this jacket with jeans, strapped heels, and a tank top? I completed the look my perforated crossbody bag from Francescas and the yellow pop with my shoes.

Confession….I actually picked up 3 jackets that day.  This neutral toned jacket, a blue, and a pink jacket! Yikes!!! I just couldn’t beat the price for that quality and the fit.  I think everyone needs a jacket, at least one jacket in their wardrobe.  Yes?

Linking details of this look below. I am curious to know if you’ve shopped at H&M? Now off I go to celebrate my anniversary with the hubs (can I write that? is that even a word?). ~ xo Louise

The Dress You Can Wear to Work and Your Valentine’s Day Date

The Dress You can Wear to work and your valentine’s day date

It’s almost that time when we get into the busiest day of the month and loved ones come up with the most creative ideas to celebrate Valentine’s day; a commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions across the world. An excuse to dress up in colors of love with hues of reds and pinks and pastels, reminding us of the promises of Spring that is very much around the corner. 🙂

If you’ve followed me for a while, you already know that I love anything feminine so this ruffle wrap dress by Gianni Bini at Dillards was the perfect find for a day in the office and doubling up for a date after work. Needless to say, today’s look is one I absolutely love! I am wearing a size small in a color that’s supposedly salmon but looks more peachy pink coral. Since I’m all about affordable fashion, I got this dress on sale under $40 compared to the original price of $159.  The fabric is flowy, the belt can tied as a bow, and there is so much detailing on the sleeves and the bottom half of the dress that add an elegant touch of femininity. I mean how stunning is the detailed ruffles throughout the dress?

This dress would also be perfect for Easter, upcoming brunch or graduation events, and a lot more …but back to the month of February, I would certainly be wearing this Gianni Bini dress to the office.  Since Valentine’s day fall on a weekday, it is very likely grandma may spend some quality time with the kids so hubby and I can go on a quick date immediately after work and then celebrate with the family again over the weekend.

    The Look

For the classic office outfit, I like to keep makeup and accessories at a minimum. What I love about monochromatic colors is the flexibility it provides when it comes to accessorizing and makeup choices. Think lighter eyeshadow and lipstick for the professional look and a brighter or darker shade for a night out. When shopping for work I usually ask myself a few questions like; can I wear this to the office and to a girls night out after work, is the style and cut classic, are the colors timeless, is the price reasonable without foregoing quality, and a few more. If the answer is yes to most of my questions, then I know it’s worth the investment.

I have come to love the Gianni Bini brand at Dillards and browsing the selection of shoes, dresses, pants, skirts, and tops that are online or at the department store. It’s always fun to see what pattern and color set will be next and to check out the sales rack for discounted finds. I’ve got to admit that I love the fit, quality, and design which will be in style for years to come. To stick with the Valentine theme, I decided to pair this dress with a nude Sam Edelman pumps and cute bag from Cole Haan.

What’s on your list for Valentine’s day?
