    The Fila Shoe Addiction

Top: Fila Cropped Long Sleeve Tee ; Sneakers: Fila Disruptor Premium Athletic Shoe

All About My Athletic Shoe Addiction

Yup, I think I went a little overboard this summer and ended up with two very different looks on the Fila disruptor athletic shoes! It all started when I went into the store to pickup athletic shoes for my son (you know how kids feet grows every few months)! Anyway, I decided to try a shoe or two while in the shopping process and ended up leaving with a little more shopping than I had originally planned for.

Y’all these sneakers are just so comfortable. I was initially skeptical because they looked rather bulky but after trying them on, I was sold.  Usually if I like something, I end up getting them in multiple colors and this was no different. I also got one my daughter too …talk about loving a brand!!!  If you see me walking around Dallas and running errands wearing these, please say hello!

I’ve linked the shoes and my Fila crop shirt below. Do you have a favorite brand of athletic shoes?

As a kid, I always loved sneakers and style. The beauty of modern luxury is the absence of rules.

Two Ways to Wear Lace with Tulle

    THE SKIRT

This skirt! I’m obsessed!!! There is something about tulle that’s so fun and playful…oh yes, and feminine too! I have had this skirt on repeat and I love how I can pair it with just about anything! If you have a tulle skirt, here are a few tips for styling:

    • Wear them with heels or even boots for a Fall look
    • Lacy tops and layers can bring in some pattern and add variation. I have worn them with a black lace top and also with a jacket for office look
    • Don’t be afraid to accessorize. I chose minimal pieces to not take away from the look. A few key pieces can make a difference.
    • Finally, make every look your own. There are no rules to fashion. It is all about how you wear each piece and confidence.

    BLACK AND LACE

Lacy tops, jackets, and the color black can all be edgy, stylish, and transforming. Lacy tops can go with about anything but I especially love it with this tulle skirt.

For a more serious look, you can add a tweed jacket and still look classy. I have been really drawn to all things black lately whether it is wearing it as a solid color or mixing it with other colors. I find that black is such an effortless color so instead of wearing a neutral lighter color, I chose to wear this skirt with something black and the contrast is beautiful.

Just add a faux fur clutch purse to keep things light and playful. If you are looking for a simple holiday look or everyday wear, this is an easy and effortless one.

You can quickly transform this look from office wear with the jacket to a night out without the jacket.  If a look is versatile in my book, then it is definitely a winner. I have linked a few pieces below.

Do you own a tulle skirt or dress? How do you wear it? Would love to hear!

    Fall Finds Under $50

There’s usually a little bit of a frenzy when approaching a change in season.  It could be due to the current fashion trends or realizing the clothes you’ve kept in your wardrobe from last Fall is not too wearable any longer.  Either way, there’s always this trend every season to do a little shopping and mix/match with your current clothes in your wardrobe. Today, I am sharing a few finds that are reasonably priced from a store I have never shopped at before; still in love with the top! Call it an accidental find, thanks to my little girl who actually pulled me into this store on one of our trips to get her fluffy scented unicorn squizamals at Claire’s. Please don’t even get me started on the squizamals and squishy trend toys among little girls! I will have to save that for another post.

Anyway, about this outfit which she picked for me and henceforth (don’t I sound so proper?), I have decided to take her along on all my shopping sprees!!!

    Outfits Under $50

This outfit is such a great transitional wear into Fall! It is not too heavy and not too light either. This top and scarf are both under $10 from Forever21 and H&M, respectfully. My pants come in three colors and on sale at Free People. I just love the beautiful contrast of colors. Maybe it’s something about color harmony between primary and secondary colors that make this look fun and yet “Fall-ish”.

My lettuce edge mock neck top isn’t really a turtleneck so is not too heavy and can be worn in temperatures in the 60s degree Fahrenheit (F) or higher…just not in 80F degree weather! Now that will be a bit too hot. I love the scallops on the edges since it adds a feminine touch to the look. The belted wide-leg pants are super comfortable. I can’t gush enough how surprised I was when I put them on! I also really like the belted option because you can adjust how tight or loose you want the belt around your waist, giving you control. You can find these pants at any of these stores; FreePeople, Nordstrom Rack or Macys. I have also included in the “Shop My Favorites” link below, a less expensive option from Forever21 which is very similar to these pants and under $30! For the scarf, I opted for a light choice but I have a feeling this may change into more heavier layers later in the month once we start experiencing much cooler temperatures.  I paired this look with one of my favorite Sam Edelman shoes from Nordstrom and Michael Kors cross body bag in nude.

Now isn’t this just the cutest outfit (minus my slightly out of control crazy hair)? I think I may have found a personal fashion stylist in my daughter. Have you guys shopped at Forever21? What do you guys think? Let me know in comments below.

How to Make Every Day a Good Day

Let’s face it, do you ever have those days when it’s so difficult to get out of bed that you just dread the day ahead? Well, you will find that almost everyone experiences some sort of morning moodiness at one point in their lives, so you are not alone.  This post is all about key tips to help you deal with how you’re feeling and make a choice to do something about it.

    1. Exercise and Eat Well in the morning.  I am a firm believer in never skipping breakfast and fueling your body with healthy choices first thing in the morning. I also believe that taking a couple minutes to exercise can do wonders for your body and help give you that jumpstart to start your day right, even with something as a relaxing exercise like yoga to stretch and breathe.
    2. Make a conscious decision at the start of the day to avoid things that stress you out or how you would choose not to let petty things get to you.  You have the power to decide to be happy or angry at any given moment so you need to know yourself, and know what stresses you out and what relaxes you.  Once you know this, you will be successful in maneuvering through situations that may come your way.
    3. Do something nice for yourself. It’s important to do something nice for yourself daily, even if it means grabbing that coffee you want or taking time to go to lunch with a friend or co-worker or allowing yourself to take a nap or watch your favorite tv show. Most importantly, do what makes you happy.
    4. Dress to make you happy. Have you ever heard of the saying “when you feel good on the outside, you feel good on the inside?” Sometimes it pays to wear clothes that make us feel confident, attractive, and comfortable. It can give you that extra boost! Speaking of outfits, this jumpsuit from H&M is so cute and can be paired with a jacket for work or worn as-is for a lunch date or night out with friends. I love how versatile it is. I have also linked a similar Ted Baker clutch wallet (since mine is is sold out) and shoes in the “Shop My Outfit” section below.

I would love to hear how you make everyday a good day. xoxo Louise

The Skirt I Will be Wearing Well into Fall

We all have that one favorite dress or shoe or shirt or skirt that we cannot seem to get enough of.  Well this is a story of a girl who bought a skirt, fell in love with it, and promised to keep it in her wardrobe a couple more seasons! You see, I am a big fan of anything long, flowy and comfortable so you can imagine when I happened to come across this skirt and I simply had to get it. There is just something ultra feminine about this skirt that I love, maybe because it is light and airy?

    The Skirt

Wishful thinking: The imagining of a situation you wished were possible.

This is exactly how I felt when I looked at this skirt at the store. Only difference is I imagined wearing it and I actually purchased it.  This is a wrap skirt and so easy to adjust waist as needed, which I love. It is also breezy and flowy and this look will be gorgeous with a pretty plaid shirt or boots for Fall.

For this look, I went with bright colors and opted for a sunflower colored yellow top and red purse. I went with these Marc Fisher Ltd. “Zala” pumps from Nordstrom and they are so comfortable! I have linked a similar top below.

I can’t tell you enough how many times I have worn this skirt this summer.  I even took it on vacation and it was the perfect outfit for one of the evenings on the cruise ship. The color also matches with just about everything.

Below I have also rounded up a few pictures wearing this skirt with another top, pink shoes, and Guess purse to share how versatile and lovely this skirt really is.

    Would you wear this skirt?

Three Changes I Made This Summer

There is always so much change each season that sometimes it warrants a need to make adjustments to what is important to us and our life. This past summer has been amazing, beautiful, and chaotic all at once.

Working mom: You have got to have a partnership in your careers

I have learned to embrace the challenges that come with being career-driven and a mom of two. You can definitely do it but it takes a lot of intentional planning and coordination. Beyond planning, just simply being there for my kids has been important so I am not apologizing for not being involved in their lives.

Life: Taking things a day at a time

Many times we get so caught up in the little things that can cause stress and see us running a million miles an hour.  I am still learning with this one but I have made a mental and conscious effort to just take things easy.  Life will always be hectic and chaotic and crazy but your outlook on how you choose to feel about the situation and turn it into a unique experience is your choice. I like to think of it as juggling multiple baskets — now if they are colorful, isn’t that just beautiful imagery?

    Healthy: Making Healthier Choices

I love food and I love the freedom that comes the many choices you can have when it comes to food.  Having a family, I have always been conscious about what we eat. Even when my kids were babies, I never bought the organic foods in a bottle. I would rather spend my evenings making my own using fresh fruits and vegetables and freezing. This past year, I got a little side tracked with some of our food choices. I guess too much happening all at once but c’est la vie (that’s life)! I am and always have been a firm believer that we are what we eat so the past couple weeks, we started making a couple adjustments and getting back into our old routine.  I can’t tell you enough how great it feels, even with something as little as incorporating smoothies or more vegetables into a diet. We made asparagus soup the other day and it took all but 20 mins and was so delicious that I will have to share that recipe and a couple more on the blog in the next few weeks. All it takes is a little prep and planning.

What lessons or changes did you learn this season? I would love to hear all about it in the comments below.

    Rainbow Brights

Taking a break from all my neutral looks…KIDDING! I love color in every season because it simply can add aesthetic pleasure to a look! When I saw this green skirt from the Eva Mendes collection at New York & Company, it was a no-brainer purchase. In fact, my younger sister liked it so much I had to go back to the store and purchase one for her. It happened to also be the last one in the store in our size! I paid full price but it is currently on sale, even better right? Some may not like the color but I find it beautiful.

I also like neutrals so when I came across this fun t-shirt, I thought what a great way to pair with jeans or …yes, this skirt! The t-shirt about sums up how moms tend to be elevated in the eyes of our kids. To our kids, we are everything. It can even be worn in the Fall with a light jacket.

For this look, I paired the skirt and t-shirt with a Kate Spade purse and then added another pop of color with these bright orange shoes :). Now isn’t this simply rainbow bright in contrast to the background?

Summer Outfits You Can Wear for a Night Out

    Summer

There is something about the Summer months and how good the sun feels on your skin that makes you think of spending most of the day at the pool or beach, and also throwing caution to the wind when it comes to how your hair or makeup looks, or what it’s like attending events. It’s some sort of freedom I would say, because all you can think about is how good it is to just enjoy time away from busy schedules.

For me, I’ve always been someone who find ways of working the key trends for the season into my existing wardrobe. While I try to stay ahead of the trends, I also keep in mind the appropriate dress for the weather too.  Now you may probably be thinking if this outfit is practical, but aside from it being simply a favorite of mine, it is the perfect Summer outfit for a night out or to an outfit to wear to a summer wedding.  The skirt is light and free flowing and the sheer mesh floral blouse allows your skin to breathe in warmer temperatures.

A sheer blouse has the power to totally transform an outfit. For casual outings, I pair with jeans, or to dress it up with a pair of trousers or skirt, as I have done here. It works exceptionally well with this maxi tulle skirt.

There’s often talk about how you “should” dress for certain occasions; nights out, events and functions, work meetings, the list goes on. I find that curating my Summer wardrobe this season has been much easier and I’ve felt like I’ve found a good rhythm. I usually tend to dance to the beat of my own drum but balance is everything.

    About The Look

There are many other ways to inject some key pieces into your wardrobe. This pink tulle skirt caught my eye because of the playfulness of it, reminds me of something a Disney Princess would wear. I thought the mesh floral blouse is the perfect summer outfit, one that is wearable and will be great for various different occasions. The bell sleeves are simply gorgeous and not too obvious.

For my feet, I opted for nude sandals to keep the look elegant. My earrings are from the baublebar and I totally love the design because it matches perfectly with my floral blouse. It is also transparent and enhances the blouse even further. My makeup was kept to a minimum. I usually think less is more and in the summer heat, the last thing you want is too much makeup on your face. You can still look beautiful with the bare minimum.

As you can see, the skirt was the central piece that tied the entire look together. I wore this to a dinner function paired with the velvet clutch. Sometimes a low maintenance look can be eye catching. What are your favourite ways to wear long flowing skirts this summer?

The Last Minute Easter Dress For Any Occasion

    Easter Weekend

Easter: a feast that commemorates Christ’s resurrection by Christians and is observed with variations of date due to different calendars on the first Sunday after the paschal full moon. It is also a time when children get excited by the Easter bunny and decorated egg-hunt. A game often played outdoors as a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in pre-Christian celebrations of spring and defined by early Christians as an Easter symbol of the resurrection of Christ.

For me, it is also a reminder that Spring is here. A weekend to appreciate the peace and beauty all around. Even if it is just for the few minutes during each day when you forget all that is expected of you and all you must do.  A tradition I love to do every year is to make the most of dressing up in my finest spring outfit for Easter Sunday celebrations.

This year, I decided to opt for a bright pastel colored dress for the Easter occasion. By choosing the right outfit, I am able to mix and match my accessories accordingly. I also selected a more neutral tan bag from Michael Kors and added some cool pieces of jewelry.

When choosing a dress for Easter, it is important to go with an outfit that has an element of timeless classic and one that is comfortable. You also want to consider a dress you can also wear to other occasions, like a spring cocktail party or dinner with family and friends. The last thing you want is to purchase a dress that is worn once and then sits in your wardrobe collecting dust.

Think simple lines, free-flowing dresses, and cuts that are flattering to your body shape.

    The Outfit

This Eliza J. mock neck shift dress is totally my aesthetics. The feminine lines and coral color is fun and playful. This shape and outfit silhouette is what I love to wear when the occasion arises. I decided to style the dress with this tan Michael Kors handbag. You can shop a similar style here.

For the shoes I went for heels, because the nice spring weather permitted that only. I purchased this pair a while back and have only worn them a couple times. They were my go-to shoes for this weekend because I needed to add some sparkle to the ensemble.

My jewelry was kept to a minimum. The cuff bracelet is another Michael Kors piece which has such a clean design that I got it in two colors; gold and black. Finally, the rose quartz ring was a last minute touch to the outfit just because the color on the stone complimented my coral dress.  I am happy with how everything worked well together. Most importantly, this is a dress that can be worn multiple times.

    What do you think?
