The Dress You’ll Want to Wear for Every Summer Event

DETAILS: YELLOW DRESS (ON SALE) –  CLEAR STRAPPY SANDALS (UNDER $100) – FLORAL PERFORATED CROSSBODY (UNDER $40)

    SUMMER STYLE

Summer is in full swing, people! I cannot believe we are already in July!! It is so surreal. I love Summer and the warmth it brings with longer sunny days and lots of activities and events. I have to confess that I have been getting lazy around here lounging in light flowy dresses and shorts most days but enough said about that. This summery dress reminds me of the color of the sun and sunflowers (btw, I LOVE sunflowers; they are my happy flowers)! The dress is perfect for work and an easy transition to a cocktail or evening attire. You can even wear it to a wedding and still look amazing! I mean how good is that shade of yellow with all the pretty ruffles? I got the dress on sale at Dillards! You will be surprised what you can find in that store. My shoes are Gianni Bini and I am obsessed with the transparency of the straps. I’m sure you’ve all seen me style this crossbody bag a few times…#guilty (lol) but it’s just so cute!

I’ve linked this look below along with another dress I have my eyes on. Have you been to any events this Summer?

Summer Outfits You Can Wear for a Night Out

    Summer

There is something about the Summer months and how good the sun feels on your skin that makes you think of spending most of the day at the pool or beach, and also throwing caution to the wind when it comes to how your hair or makeup looks, or what it’s like attending events. It’s some sort of freedom I would say, because all you can think about is how good it is to just enjoy time away from busy schedules.

For me, I’ve always been someone who find ways of working the key trends for the season into my existing wardrobe. While I try to stay ahead of the trends, I also keep in mind the appropriate dress for the weather too.  Now you may probably be thinking if this outfit is practical, but aside from it being simply a favorite of mine, it is the perfect Summer outfit for a night out or to an outfit to wear to a summer wedding.  The skirt is light and free flowing and the sheer mesh floral blouse allows your skin to breathe in warmer temperatures.

A sheer blouse has the power to totally transform an outfit. For casual outings, I pair with jeans, or to dress it up with a pair of trousers or skirt, as I have done here. It works exceptionally well with this maxi tulle skirt.

There’s often talk about how you “should” dress for certain occasions; nights out, events and functions, work meetings, the list goes on. I find that curating my Summer wardrobe this season has been much easier and I’ve felt like I’ve found a good rhythm. I usually tend to dance to the beat of my own drum but balance is everything.

    About The Look

There are many other ways to inject some key pieces into your wardrobe. This pink tulle skirt caught my eye because of the playfulness of it, reminds me of something a Disney Princess would wear. I thought the mesh floral blouse is the perfect summer outfit, one that is wearable and will be great for various different occasions. The bell sleeves are simply gorgeous and not too obvious.

For my feet, I opted for nude sandals to keep the look elegant. My earrings are from the baublebar and I totally love the design because it matches perfectly with my floral blouse. It is also transparent and enhances the blouse even further. My makeup was kept to a minimum. I usually think less is more and in the summer heat, the last thing you want is too much makeup on your face. You can still look beautiful with the bare minimum.

As you can see, the skirt was the central piece that tied the entire look together. I wore this to a dinner function paired with the velvet clutch. Sometimes a low maintenance look can be eye catching. What are your favourite ways to wear long flowing skirts this summer?

    Staying Chic During Summer

    Summer Fun

Summer is a time for sunshine, love, and happiness. For me, the month of May usually flies by pretty quickly amidst birthday season and the last day of school activities for my littles. Then hello June, and it’s all about summer vacations and spending more time outdoors with the family.

I really love the sun and it makes me so happy, but sometimes it can be so hot and humid in Dallas with temperatures in the triple digits! Even hotter than in Ghana, where I grew up. It almost gets to be a bit of a challenge to look stylish in the Dallas summer heat. However, after living in a tropical country for most of my early years, I have almost mastered the art of dressing in the summer heat. The key to choosing the perfect summer outfit is all about comfort and picking a fabric that is light and airy.

So on the topic of summer, I bought this beach dress which is now on sale from ASOS and paired it with a few expensive pieces of jewelry. I love the flow of the dress, the color, and the simple cut. Now lets discuss why and how I wore these pieces.

    THE OUTFIT

The outfit as always is easy going and comfortable.  The dress is surprisingly light and free flowing. I feel this dress could go well in the evening paired with red or yellow heels and a clutch, like what I am wearing. It can also be transformed into a daytime, more laid back look by pairing it with slippers and a straw hat and bag. I love how easy it is to dress up an outfit like that. All it takes is your imagination. What do you think?

As always I love jewelry so accessorised this look in the same manner and added a big floppy hat against the summer heat. I wore my playful lemon earrings from ModCloth and the rest (cuff bracelet and disc necklace) is all Michael Kors. As always I have it all linked for you below. Hope you like it!
